Welcome to the club, dad.

You’re embarking on one of the most mindbogglingly surreal, rewarding and scary experiences of your life. It’s normal to be a bit overwhelmed and to worry about whether you’re up to the task. But, when the freak outs overshadow the joy, it’s time to get help.

We specialize in therapy for expecting and new fathers who want to worry less and be more present for this incredible moment.

Therapy for new fathers

When everyone around you is brimming with joy and hope, it can feel uniquely lonely and painful to be fixated on the worry, sadness and anxiety. You know you should feel excited, but sometimes it just feels so impossibly far away.

You don’t want to burden your partner who is on her own difficult journey and talking about your worries with friends and family can leave you feeling more alone and ashamed.

Therapy is a space to slow down and reconnect with all of the joy and potential bound up in this moment. We’ll help you work through the overwhelming feelings and remove roadblocks in the way of becoming the father you always hoped you’d be.

Whether you’re seeking help in the weeks or months leading up to the birth or recently became a dad, we’re here to support you.

We have offices in Brooklyn and Nassau County, and work remotely with fathers all over New York State.

FAQs

What comes next?

After a consultation call where we can get a feel for each other and what working together might be like, we’ll start meeting weekly for 50-60 minutes. Most people stick to weekly meetings, but some choose to meet multiple times per week or every other week.

How long will we meet?

It’s different for each person based on the severity of their issues. Some dads have sessions for a few months until things feel resolved and some stick around because they value having time and space dedicated to reflection and growth.

What about fees and insurance?

We have a fee range of $200-250 per session and ask clients to select a fee that works for them. We’re not in-network with any insurance companies, but most of people get reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. It varies based on plans, but we can help you navigate it.

Let’s get started.

You don’t have to do this alone. We can help you navigate this monumental transition into fatherhood. Schedule a free consultation to talk through what’s going on, hear more about how we work with new and expecting dads and ask any lingering questions you have about therapy.
