Overcoming traumatic birth experiences.
You put so much hope into this moment and then something unexpected and horrible happened that’s colored the entire experience of becoming a father. Whether you’re stuck reliving those terrifying moments or can’t shake the anger, sadness and resentment, it doesn’t have to be this way.
We specialize in helping fathers move through the pain and into the experience of fatherhood they always hoped to have.
Therapy for traumatic birth experiences
Being a birthing partner is hard enough when things go to plan, but there’s a unique sense of being robbed when things go wrong. This beautiful moment you’d been dreaming of became a moment of pain and fear that you can’t shake.
Getting stuck in that moment is especially painful because of how lonely it can feel and how much guilt can come up when you and your partner are both struggling.
Therapy is a space to move through the trauma, rejoin the present and be the kind of father you know you can be. We’ll help you process the traumatic experience without getting overwhelmed and reconnect with your purpose in the present moment.
The lingering effects of traumatic birth experiences are highly treatable, especially if you seek help soon after. Whether you just got through the experience or it’s been bothering you for years, we’re here to help you move through the pain and into the present.
We have offices in Brooklyn and Nassau County, and work remotely with fathers all over New York State.
FAQs
What comes next?
After a consultation call where we can get a feel for each other and what working together might be like, we’ll start meeting weekly for 50-60 minutes. Most people stick to weekly meetings, but some choose to meet multiple times per week or every other week.
How long will we meet?
It’s different for each person based on the severity of their issues. Some dads have sessions for a few months until things feel resolved and some stick around because they value having time and space dedicated to reflection and growth.
What about fees and insurance?
We have a fee range of $200-250 per session and ask clients to select a fee that works for them. We’re not in-network with any insurance companies, but most of people get reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits. It varies based on plans, but we can help you navigate it.
