The First Year:
New Dad Support Group
Congrats. You now have a baby.
You also are facing down one of the most beautiful challenges you’ll ever know: figuring out what it means to be a dad. For most of us, transitioning to fatherhood is a slow (and challenging) process that takes place during the first year.
The First Year is a weekly support group for new dads with kids under a year old. During each 75 minute session, we’ll talk about who we want to be, what’s making it hard and the moments where we succeed.
It’s a place for weekly reflection, support and growth among a group of men going through the same strange and beautiful experience.
The support group I wish I had had.
There’s plenty of books, classes, doula meetings, etc that prepare you for the birthing process and supporting your partner. There might even be a chapter or quick chat about being a dad, but most of it is best summed up as “Dude! You’re gonna be a dad!”
You deserve more than that. Becoming a father is one of the most profound shifts that you’ll ever experience in your life. You need time and space to make sense of something so monumental. That’s what this group is for. It’s a weekly space for 6 sessions to ask, answer and act on the question, “Who do I want to be as a dad?” The answer to that question, will help you make it through the late nights, frustration and moments of “can I do this?”
The group is led by Therapy for Dads founder and proud dad to a nearly 3 year old, Josh Millrod, LCAT, MT-BC.
We’ll meet virtually on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm for 6 sessions and the group is limited to 6 members. We’ll figure out a start date and meeting schedule based on group member’s availability. The fee for the full six sessions is $300.
If you’re curious about joining the group, reach out to joshmillrodlcat@gmail.com to check availability and set up a consultation to see if it’s a good fit.
